New Airline Security Fee

Dear Travelers:

As you may be aware, the airlines have imposed a new security fee. The fee is $2.50 per person for each flight segment, with a round-trip flight capped at $10 per person. This means that the total fee for our Fly Aweigh air/sea guests will range from $5 to $10.

Carnival Cruise Lines will begin collecting this new security fee on all new Fly Aweigh air/sea bookings (individual and group) effective on Saturday, February 9. This security fee will be assessed for North American gateway cities to all ports of departure (including some flight segments for the Europe cruises on Carnival Legend).

For all bookings (individual and group) made prior to February 9, on cruise departures through April 30, 2002, the new security fee will not be collected.

For all bookings (individual and group) made prior to February 9, on cruise departures beginning May 1 and beyond, the new tax will be collected. These bookings will be re-priced on Saturday, February 16 and confirmations will be sent reflecting the new balance due.

We all now understand the need for enhanced airport security. For the existing bookings that will be re-priced, we know it is a difficult process. However, it was just too costly for Carnival to absorb these new fees.

We request your assistance in helping Carnival Cruise Lines effectively implement the collection of this new security fee.
